Tender Compulsions

She sat besides the red roses
Dull to their splendour
The thorns pierced deep
Her heart did bleed
She gazed at the lush green grass
Soiled and trampled
With footsteps never to retreat

He stood at a distance
His presence unnoticed
A muted cry crushed his heart
His arms did ache to embrace her
If only he could
Assuage the anguish which consumed her
This was not to happen

He was not her choice
Clear was her voice.

    1. Quite true. However there is a slow murmur which is soon going to overcome the authoritative male dominance in our country.yes we will see the change. Have witnessed too many suppressions ,it’s like a simmer ready to boil over. Thanks you have added a new dimension.

  1. The poem denotes great sensitivity to the ‘other’ and perhaps a different type of love that gathers at the thorns of loss. A subjective look into it πŸ™‚ Beautiful Veena πŸ™‚
