A creed bred and led
Agreed to seed and feed
To wield, yield and share proceed
They rallied and succeeded never superseded
Then threatened by hubris headed towards greed
On a stampede to exceed and avarice to mislead
Perpetrated misdeeds with vengeance unleashed
Bloodied and harried they did bleed
Soon harmed and alarmed desired to be released
Ashamed and disgraced with venality to be blamed
Sought gratification pleaded to be reseeded
For they all did concede
Judas did betray Jesus allured by greed
Damned were Ahab and Jazebel for greed.

Sometimes I wonder if ‘negativity’ has more influence on us, compared to the good and positive. History has proved that humanity has gone through so much tribulation, yet, we never cease to repeat our choices.

I quite agree with you.We never take lessons from history. We wish to make our choices and face consequences.

Let’s be hopeful though, I have faith that humanity will pay heed to the seers and philosophers and change the course of life.
I quite like the depth of your writing, very well penned.

The assonances throughout the poem create a strong, pungent rhythm. They feel like blasting drums pacing our way to yet another bloody greedy carnage.
