Ingenious Remunerations – A Machiavellian Stroke

A tale of yesteryears of the ways and lives of nobles and nobility
Their splendor magnificence power pelf grace and magnanimity
Of splendid castles mansions luxuries and extravagance here but a marked digression
The stillness the void an incomplete spiritless existence for absence of progression
The longing the aching the prayers the fervent proceedings a desire for succession
The oracles the the sacrifices all possible endeavors rewarded with fruitful blessings
The joyous proclamation the celebrations the jubilation thronging and merrymaking
An oversight immediately to be resolved to procure a wet nurse of noble making.

A pretty maid hastened to the calling tenderly she held the infant fast to her bosom
Her love flowed to nourish and strengthen the cherub she rejoiced as he blossomed
She showered love oblivious to the consequences of her misplaced maternal instincts
She tended to the mewling and puking regaled in the childish treble often indistinct
Her home was forsaken and loved ones forgotten as she sank deeper in affection
The inconsistency of life the bonny baby soon transformed to an arrogant prospect ion
The count fruitlessly did grief and with a heavy heart departed to his heavenly abode
The halcyon days were over the maid now confined to her cabin pined for a glimpse.

One evening he stood at the gazebo delighted at the beautiful sight he did behold
The tiered fountain the waterfall the pond the vibrant flower beds all did unfold
His gaze then shifted to the corner where stood the cabin and the maid indecorous
An offending sight an insignificant creature a worthless soul with outlived purpose
He cursed his father and his thoughtless endowment of land of significant valuation
A shrewd contrived unscrupulous and hypocritical with premeditated masterful oration
Addressed the assembled a befitting eulogy to commemorate his augustus father
A marble statue to be installed in the garden a devious purpose effortlessly furthered.

The sculptors chiseled to utmost perfection a specimen of monumental perfection
A gigantic pedestal with a life size statue completely concealed the imperfection
A feast marked the installation a parade of roasts fish venison and all fancy
A blatant display of wealth and largesse wooed the throng to dance with flippancy
While the dulcimers harps and lyres in accompaniment to ministers marked the day
All the while the wretched woman indifferent to her predicament smiled in fascination
Peered through the obstruction to catch a glimpse of the object of her obsession
With fondness she blessed the errant who incarcerated her to languish in oblivion.

  1. My grandma used to tell us how pride and prayer lived together like twins on a cape. Loved those stories. Your poetry is such fine work of art. 🙂 A little difficult for people like us who know very little about this level of artistry. Absolutely amazing! During childhood we played only. Study was just a formality .

  2. Your words and thoughts blend in and put forth in wonderful ways. Quite a common theme I must say that most parents, especially mother’s experience. Even myself as a mother to a certain extent. Some children are quite unaware of the sacrifices and hard work done, which are the foundation of their very beings and their successes. Thank you for sharing with us. Many Blessings of Love and Light to you 🙂 ❤

    1. Hi deepanilamani , you sum up the composition very well.A lot of love ,affection and selflessness goes in while nurturing the little ones. Not that one is looking for acknowledgement but some love ,care and concern is due not as a right but as a bond which has build up with years of association. We are lucky that we are taken care of when we need help .
